Can You Treat Vertigo by Using CBD?

No research points out that CBD can be used to treat Vertigo. However, it can help deal with underlying symptoms, including reducing nausea. However, CBD is only suitable under considerable doses. Too much of it can escalate the condition.

Fear, at times, is terrifying and difficult to handle. Vertigo is a feeling that the world around you is spinning non-stop. Prolonged Vertigo interferes with body balance, making one shake and even fall. Sometimes it happens fast, lowering the blood pressure. Vertigo is a symptom of an underlying condition such as inner ear or multiple sclerosis. Although there are various medications for Vertigo, it depends on the underlying condition. Various substances might be curious about their effectiveness regarding Vertigo, including cannabidiol (CBD). This article will help you understand how CBD can be effective for dealing with Vertigo and the underlying side effects.

    What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a major cannabis and hemp plant compound. The plants have various elements besides cannabis; terpenes, flavonoids, and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although all the elements seem to be safe, THC is not. According to Neisink et al.  (2013), THC has psychoactive side effects, including feeling dizzy and anxious. CBD is offered in various forms, including oils, gummies, tinctures, sprays, foods, topicals, and capsules. Consider CBD products like gummies, oils, and capsules if you want a full-body effect. CBD is either in the full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or isolate.

    Full Spectrum

Full-spectrum CBD products are dominant, followed by broad-spectrum. They are associated with various health benefits due to multiple elements allowing them to offer an entourage effect. This effect is the ability of multiple compounds to work together to offer more therapeutic benefits. According to Boehnke et al.  (2022), full-spectrum CBD is suitable for lowering anxiety levels, especially in situations like Vertigo. However, THC doesn't make it suitable and can worsen the situation. Although THC is considered less effective in full-spectrum, it is a significant element. According to Gallily et al.  (2018), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) contains anti-inflammatory properties.

    Broad Spectrum

Broad-spectrum CBD is also suitable for the entourage effect. It has various elements from hemp except for THC. Broad-spectrum CBD is suitable for avoiding THC-related side effects such as dizziness which can escalate with Vertigo. However, the absence of THC should not make users take too much broad-spectrum CBD. Liu Tina (2019) suggested that CBD can cause dizziness, anxiety, and diarrhea, especially in high potencies.

    Isolate CBD

Isolate is the pure state of CBD, void of other chemical compounds such as terpenes, flavonoids, and THC. Therefore, it is only suitable for CBD-related health benefits. It is also suitable for Vertigo since it minimizes THC risks, especially dizziness. However, it should also be taken considerably to avoid possible side effects.

Can CBD Be Used For Vertigo?

CBD might not be a suitable solution for dealing with Vertigo. However, it can help to lower related symptoms such as nausea and dizziness. According to Rock et al. (2016), this compound can be used to reduce nausea. However, the research was based on animals. The research was also based on chemotherapy nausea and not Vertigo related. Iffland& Grotenhermen (2017) stated that CBD interacts with serotonin receptors, influencing your feelings, mood, and general well-being.

    Can CBD Worsen Vertigo?

As suggested in the above clinical trials, Vertigo comes with dizziness from the possible side effects of CBD and THC. Although CBD rarely makes people dizzy, THC can. Therefore, it is important to confirm THC levels before using any CBD product to address Vertigo. Broad-spectrum and isolate CBD are recommended since they are void of the psychoactive element. However, it is important to note other side effects of CBD. According to World Health Organization (WHO), CBD can result in weight change, fatigue, and diarrhea.

    Normal Vertigo Treatment

There is no specific treatment for Vertigo. The treatment is based on an underlying condition that is causing dizziness. Therefore, before using CBD, it is important to talk to a doctor. Besides, vertigo treatment depends on the type; peripheral and central Vertigo. Peripheral issues result from issues in the inner ear, causing imbalance and central brain involvement. Some of the doctor's recommendations for Vertigo include avoiding triggers, physical therapy, medication for the disorder, and surgical treatment. It would help if patients considered seeing a doctor when it happens frequently, causes chest pain, and interferes with walking or stability.

    Key Point

There is no clinical trial showing the impact of CBD on Vertigo. According to the side effects of CBD, it can even worsen the condition. Therefore, if you feel it is taking the better part, see a doctor for treatment.

How To Avoid Side Effects of CBD

    People using CBD to treat Vertigo should be keen on various things for maximum effect. CBD can only be effective if it is of high quality. Some of the factors to consider are;

    Potency Levels

Avoid CBD products without lab results from a certified lab to avoid such cases. The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has been warning brands of misinforming their customers about the potency levels. Avoid brands with constant warnings from the FDA since they might lie about the ingredients, including using marijuana instead of hemp.

    Other Elements

CBD has other elements associated with the underlying condition to be effective for Vertigo. The elements used are important for determining the effectiveness of the CBD. Avoid artificial ingredients since they might not offer a lasting solution. Artificial elements might also interfere with CBD's purity and potency levels, making them less effective.

    Conclusion

Vertigo can be disturbing and risky, especially if it's often. The best way of dealing with it is by seeing a doctor treat the underlying condition. CBD is used to minimize the symptoms such as dizziness and nausea. However, it can only be effective in low potencies. Consider either broad-spectrum or isolate since they are void of THC, which could escalate Vertigo. Before using CBD for Vertigo, confirm the ingredients, ensuring they match the underlying condition causing Vertigo. Avoid CBD products without lab results since they can expose you to overdosing or consuming contaminants. CBD may contain THC, which might show in a drug test.
