    Dosing Guide

    A vast majority is talking about CBD and its wide range of health benefits. If you are new to CBD products, you may want to know about dosing. This article will examine CBD and its benefits to your health. You will also learn how CBD dosage works and some factors that can vary CBD dosing. Keep reading to find out more about CBD dosing.

    The CBD industry is expanding without pause, with new CBD products being launched almost daily. Cannabidiol (CBD) is available in oils, tinctures, edibles, and topical forms. You may have wondered about dosage if you consider including CBD products in your lifestyle. Determining the perfect dosage for your preferred CBD product can be tricky. An ideal CBD dosage for you will depend on why you are using the product and the form in which you consume CBD. Generally, CBD dosage will depend on the condition you try to manage. Factors such as body size or weight, CBD tolerance, body chemistry, and the CBD potency of your product will determine your ideal dosage.

    What Is CBD?

    Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural compound from the cannabis plant, loaded with one hundred plus compounds known as cannabinoids. CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the most popular components of this plant. Although CBD and THC come from the same plant, the two compounds are slightly different. THC is the chemical compound that is responsible for the psychoactive effects that cannabis is popularly known for. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. It is the best non-intoxicating cannabinoid of the cannabis plant. CBD becomes the best option for those who want to benefit from the therapeutic effects of cannabis without experiencing any mind-altering effects.

    For many years, CBD has been touted to possess therapeutic properties that could be effective for most health issues and the body's overall well-being. According to Berger & McGregor (2022), CBD can effectively treat anxiety disorders. Schilling et al. (2021) also suggested that CBD can be used as a treatment for chronic pain. Other health benefits of CBD, as pointed out by Rawls (2019), include; reducing stress, improving sleep, improving symptoms of nervous system conditions, reducing immune dysfunction, gut dysfunction, and cancer-related symptoms.

    What Is the Normal Dose for CBD?

    Many CBD users consume 20 mg to 40 mg of CBD per dose. This is the most common dose considered normal. Some individuals may take a much lower dose, like 2mg, while others may prefer higher doses, like 100mg or more. The underlying fact is that the ideal dose of CBD is relatively different for everybody. For example, one person may find his ideal dose of CBD is 20 mg, while another may respond well with 60 mg of CBD.

    Factors That May Influence CBD Dosage

    The optimum CBD dose will depend on factors such as; Individual weight, the type of condition you are treating, your body chemistry, CBD tolerance, and CBD potency of the product you are consuming.Learn more about whats my cbd dosage

    Type of Health Conditions You Are Treating

    CBD dosage will depend on the health condition you are treating and why you are taking it. Different conditions will require different doses. For example, some people may need higher doses to control seizures, while others may need lower doses to lower their anxiety. Shannon et al. (2019) noted that individuals who took 25 mg of CBD daily showed improved sleep quality. Learn more about cbd dosing - how to choose your cannabidiol strength

    Individual Weight

    Individual body weight is also another factor that influences CBD dosage. Many studies indicate that a person with less weight should consume lower CBD dosages that a person who weighs more.

    Your Tolerance to CBD

    Your tolerance to CBD also influences how much CBD you may consume. For example, if you are sensitive to CBD, you need smaller doses to avoid being affected by the substance. But if you find out that CBD does not affect you, you can consider higher doses for effective results.

    CBD Potency

    CBD potency is determined by the CBD concentration available in your CBD product. For example, CBD paste is highly potent compared to other products. That means you will probably need a much lower dose of a highly potent CBD product. Higher doses are recommended for products with low CBD potency.

    To find your ideal dose, start with a smaller dose, like 1 mg to 2 mg and increase gradually (by 2 mg to 5 mg) until you find the measure that works well for you.

    What Form Should You Consume?

    CBD products are available in three main forms. They include;

    • CBD Isolate- contains only CBD. This is the purest form of CBD with no impurities.
    • Broad-spectrum CBD- contains CBD with other cannabinoids except for THC.
    • Full-spectrum CBD- contains both CBD and THC and other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant.

    CBD isolate is the best form for those who want to reap cannabis benefits without experiencing any psychoactive effects. Besides, more research is needed on broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD.

    Safety Concerns and Side Effects of CBD

    CBD is generally safe, but it doesn't mean you cannot experience side effects. It is also good to note that not all CBD products are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Some brands include unproven claims about the efficacy of their CBD products. Others do not label some toxic ingredients included in the product. Other CBD products are mislabeled to contain more THC than indicated. Ensure that you buy products that have been regulated and do not prohibit federal laws.

    Like any other medical drug, CBD also has side effects. However, these side effects are not severe or anything close to death. Some of the common side effects of CBD include;

    • Weight changes
    • Drowsiness
    • Nausea
    • Diarrhea
    • Changes in appetite
    • Stomach upsets and
    • Fatigue

    CBD works differently for everybody. Determining an ideal CBD dose can be overwhelming, especially if you are new to CBD. Therefore, CBD dosage may be influenced by factors such as individual weight, CBD tolerance, the kind of health condition you are treating, or why you are taking CBD. CBD dosage is also influenced by the CBD potency of the product you are taking. When determining the ideal dose for you, start with smaller doses and then increase gradually until you get your desired effects. The most common CBD dosage considered normal is 20 mg to 40 mg of CBD.
