CBD salve is made by adding CBD oil into the salve. This salve can be used sublingually, swallowing, and topical application. This article discusses in depth the different ways of using it.
The rise of CBD in the market has made manufacturers come up with ways to consume the CBD. Salves have numerous benefits not only to the internal parts of the body but also to the external, like the skin. The benefits acclaimed have drawn people to want to know more about the different ways in which one can use the CBD salve and get to benefit from their effects. This article discusses the different ways one can use CBD salve.
CBD is an active and natural compound found in the cannabis plant. CBS salve is combined with CBD extract with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp oil. They are mostly used on the skin to promote healing of the skin and protect it from external damage.
According to Yin et al. (2020), CBD salve can also be used sublingually. It is the most preferred method, especially for fast and quick results. The CBD salve is put under the tongue and then held for a few minutes for the mucous membrane to absorb the salve. The mucous membrane has veins and capillaries that relay CBD into the bloodstream. CBD resin and drops are the most used CBD salve for this method. This is because their concentration is high and can be used to treat several diseases and the different conditions present.
CBD salve is placed under the tongue. This method is known as the sublingual method. It can either be drops of resin. They are left under the tongue for some time so that the mucous membranes can absorb them. Be sure not to swallow the saliva immediately after you have placed the CBD salve under the tongue. This is because you may swallow the active ingredients in the CBD salve. However, after some minutes, swallow the saliva or, better yet, spit out the saliva. Wash or rinse the mouth using water or liquid to wash off the taste or odor in the mouth.
Evans (2020) stated that when CBD salve is ingested through the swallowing method, it must go through digestion. CBD salve will go through the stomach, and digestion occurs. It is then transported through the liver and later into the bloodstream, and the effects will start to be felt. The process is longer; therefore, the effects will take longer to be felt by the user of CBD salve. However, when using this method, the effects are long-lasting. The downside of this method is that it leaves an awful taste or smell in the mouth.
Most users that are into this method are those that do not want to have the taste of the CBD salve in their mouth. CBD salve exists in different topical forms such as lotions, creams, and balms. They are applied to the skin of individuals and do not go into the bloodstream. However, their effects are felt inside the body, this is made possible through the presence of the endocannabinoid system. CBD salve has a localized effect, that is the effects are felt in that specific area, not the entire body. It helps treat several skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, and eczema. It also deals with itchy and irritated skin.
CBD salve can be used in different drinks and food. They can be put into food when one is cooking. However, one should add CBD salve nearer to serving time, this is because high heat exposure loses the active ingredients. People can also put them in drops into drinks and have them through swallowing ingestion.
Capsules are an alternative way of taking CBD, they are easy to dose because the dose is expressed in Milligrams per capsule. Additionally, they are discreet and mask the unpalatable taste of CBD oil.
This method is used by individuals that have issues with their digestive system. It involves administering the CBD salve through the anus to assist with gastrointestinal issues. The intestinal membranes are responsible for absorbing the CBD salve with high concentrations and then taking them into the bloodstream, where the effects are felt. The salve can also be used as a lubricant. However, one should ensure that their bodies are not allergic to the ingredients used to make the CBD salve.
Though not mostly used with the CBD salve, vaping can still be a way in which people use the CBD salve. Brand (2020) reported that when vaping CBD salve, the vapor passed through the lungs and goes straight into the bloodstream. This, therefore, means that there is no digestion taking place. Ross (2021) stated that vaping is often preferred because it gives out an immediate effect compared to the other methods. However, their effects are short-lived.
The different ways of using CBD oil will always depend on the effects one wants to feel and how quickly one wants to feel them. Some ways like swallowing and topical application may take a while before the effects are felt, but their effects will be long-lasting when they start to take their course. The others that are vaping sublingual administration and rectal administration are faster because they do not have to go through digestion.
