Does CBD Have the Same Effect on Everyone?

CBD reacts with people differently for various reasons, including differences in tolerance, the dosage and concentration of CBD, body weight, and mode of administration. Read on to discover whether CBD has the same effect on everyone.

Several people widely appreciate CBD for its therapeutic effects on the human body. Thus, it is incorporated into different products, including oils, lotions, tinctures, and edibles. Recently, they have been incorporated into foods and drinks, although it is prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The research about CBD is in its infancy stage. Still, it has proved indifferent that it is reliable and effective for different health conditions, including treating pain and inflammation.

Additionally, Epidiolex is the only CBD drug approved by the FDA for alleviating two rare forms of epilepsy. CBD reacts differently with different people for various reasons, including differences in tolerance and body chemistry. This article illustrates how CBD's effect differs from one person to the other.

    What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol is the second most known chemical compound derived from hemp and cannabis plants. CBD is widely used for its therapeutic effect on the body. Furthermore, CBD can alleviate stress and anxiety, relieve pain and improve sleep quality. The hemp plant has a higher amount of CBD and is thus the legal source approved by the FDA. However, CBD derived from cannabis is illegal, although some states allow it.

CBD does not have the same effect on every person. Pure CBD cannot cause a 'high' feeling to the users since it is non-psychoactive. Unlike THC, CBD interacts differently with the endocannabinoid receptors found in the body to improve its functioning. According to Watt & Karl (2017), THC is a popular cannabis compound known for its hallucinogenic effect; it can alter the user's mental state. Although THC and CBD are extracted from the same plant, they differ in functionality.

Factors Affecting the Effectiveness of the CBD in the Body

    The Dosage and Concentration

Although CBD is not prescribed like other over-the-counter drugs, they have different doses used by people for different reasons. The amount of CBD you use can affect the effect it has on you. For example, a person using 600 milligrams (mg) of CBD will have different effects than those with 250mg. Similarly, the concentration will make a difference in the impact of CBD on your body; a highly concentrated CBD has a more immediate effect than a low concentrated CBD.

     The Body Weight

Body size also affects the efficacy of CBD in users. A plus-sized person tends to have more fats stored in the body which can be advantageous or disadvantageous to the user. For example, fats can keep the CBD compound longer in the body and thus increase its effectiveness. On the other hand, the larger surface area in the body will make it hard for the users to immediately feel the effects of CBD.

    Mode of Administration

You can enjoy your CBD in different ways, including vaping, topical CBD products, edibles, gummies, and tinctures. Research suggests that each mode of CBD administration is good for different health conditions. For example, CBD topicals are good for pain relief and treating skin conditions such as acne. This is because the product can be applied directly to the affected area, enhancing fast relief. Conversely, edibles are better for alleviating mental health disorders such as anxiety and stress. They are also reliable for enhancing a good night's sleep because they stay in the body system for longer. However, CBD vapes take a shorter time to kick in; thus, they are better for enhancing faster sleep.

    Type of CBD Product

CBD is divided into three, namely full spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. They contain different hemp-derived compounds. For example, full-spectrum CBD contains all the compounds derived from the hemp plant, including THC. Broad-spectrum CBD has different components from the plant, such as flavonoids, terpenes, and all cannabinoids except THC. On the other hand, CBD isolate does not have any additional plant compound; it is just CBD. Research shows that with full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD, an increase in the dosage increases with the effect compared to CBD isolate. Therefore, the type of CBD infused in your product will determine the effect you get from it.

    Considerations When Purchasing CBD Products

    The Method of Extraction

The use of chemicals or CO2 can extract CBD. According to Rochfort et al. (2020), CO2 extraction is the bests method of obtaining CBD since it does not use chemicals that contaminate the product, lessening its effect.

    The Source of CBD

CBD can be derived from hemp or marijuana plant. The FDA legalized the use of hemp-derived CBD. Hemp and marijuana are plants of the same cannabis family; however, hemp contains a higher amount of CBD than marijuana, whose THC percentage is higher. Therefore, the product should be clear on the source of CBD used in the product. The legal THC levels in any CBD product are below 0.3%, proven non-psychoactive.

    The Company's Reputation

It is advisable to buy the product from a reputable and trusted brand. Companies that are highly ranked are reliable since it is evident that they are providing a good quality product for the user. You can review other users' reviews online since they tell more about the company and its products.

     The Certificate of Analysis

It is good for the manufacturer of the products to provide a Certificate of Analysis. It should have information about the product, its source, extraction method, available compounds, and THC percentage. Through this, you can tell the product's quality and the brand's authenticity.

    Benefits of CBD

    Alleviate Pain

According to Überall (2020), CBD can relieve the body from acute and chronic pain. Pain can cause discomfort and make you unproductive. This can also affect your sleep.  for the same reason, CBD is used for treating health conditions that cause severe pain, such as arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

    Improve Sleep

According to Teitelbaum (2019), CBD can help improve sleep since it can relax the body and the mind. Also, CBD can soothe the body, provide a fizzing effect, and activate all body senses. It gives you a good night's sleep by relieving stress and anxiety and reducing pain and inflammation.

    Conclusion

Different factors affect the effect of CBD on the body, including body weight, the mode of administration, and the concentration of CBD in the product. Furthermore, people use CBD for therapeutic and recreational reasons. CBD has recently become the golden specimen, and many researchers have conducted more studies on the compound. Although most research supports different health claims of CBD, it is not approved for medical use by the FDA, except for epilepsy. Before using CBD for medical purposes, consult your doctor. Also, consider starting low for any form of CBD administration and the reason for taking CBD.
