If you’ve come home from a stressful day at work, or an exhausting day around people that may have brought your energy down, practicing this simple ritual can help clear your energy, reset your mood, and bring that vibe back up high.

Before we get into how smudging can alter our energies, let’s delve deeper into how energies work. Is it Science or Hippie Philosophy?

Beyond and much higher than our physical selves are our energies. We all are constantly in motion, therefore we are always emitting vibrations. Each and every being vibrates at different frequencies of energy, and these frequencies are interlinked to our level of consciousness, and level of happiness.

Science shows that the change in vibrational frequencies can effect how our cells function, therefore altering the workings of our mind, body, and soul. When we are happiest, we are emitting positive vibrations at high frequencies. When we are at our lowest, on the other hand, we are usually sad or disassociated, and emitting low frequency vibrations

If you feel that your environment may be causing you to break out into a newfound rash, causing both inflammation on the skin and within, sage is the perfect way to cleanse your surroundings.

Sage is effective in removing surrounding bacteria; pathogenic bacteria in particular. Simply burning a stick of sage can create a much more sacred environment, allowing you to feel much safer in your space after coming home from a long day. This can leave both you and your room feeling much cleaner.

The very act of burning sage is a pro-active way of meditating after a tiring day, and letting go of any worrisome thoughts. The calming effect of burning sage will ease you into re-setting your way of thinking, drifting back into the present moment, and settling back into a higher vibrational frequency.

How to smudge?

- To feel the benefits of sage, set the tone by playing relaxing music, or by making sure you are in a peaceful area. 

- Light your smudge stick and let it burn for a few seconds before putting out the flame; to avoid ash-fall, light this over a heat safe bowl or abalone shell.

- Clear your mind, and start whispering or stating anything from affirmations to manifestations whilst slowly drawing your smudge stick around the room.
