How Much CBD Isolate Should You Consume?

For CBD isolate, the required dosage is around twenty-five milligrams unless the doctor states otherwise. One can then increase their dosage gradually until they find their desired results. This article highlights; defining CBD isolate, the ideal amount of CBD in different dosages, finding the superior CBD isolate dosage for you, calculating CBD isolate dosage, CBD isolate dosage for various health conditions, and whether it is possible to overdose on CBD isolate.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, majorly famous for its cooling and soothing effects. It is available in three formulations isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum. CBD isolate, referred to by some as pure CBD, is its most pure form since it contains ninety-nine percent CBD. On the other hand, the broad-spectrum and full spectrum contains different cannabinoids, including flavonoids and terpenes responsible for the plant's aroma. What distinguishes them is that the latter contains THC while the broad range doesn't. For new users, CBD isolate is the preferable type to start incorporating CBD into one's daily lifestyle. Most have difficulty knowing the right amount of CBD isolates to consume. This article highlights the ideal CBD isolate dosage and more.

    Defining CBD Isolate

According to Marinotti et al. (2020), CBD isolate is the most refined form of CBD since other compounds are extracted from the cannabis plant during its processing. Calabrese et al. (2018) noted that it is derived from hemp-derived cannabis oil since it contains low amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound capable of high effects. It is easily manageable since it is tasteless and odorless. There are multiple CBD isolate products such as; oil, edibles, capsules, salves, topicals, and vapes.

The Ideal Amount of CBD Isolate Dosage

There is no standard CBD isolate dose out there since everyone has unique body chemistry. Taking around twenty-five milligrams of CBD isolate on the first day is recommended for first-time users. One can gradually increase it as one continues until one find the right amount.

Finding the Ideal CBD Isolate Dosage for You

CBD isolate is expressed in mg, and its dosage depends on the health conditions you want to deal with. According to Sallaberry et al. (2018), the endocannabinoid system (ECS), responsible for managing various body functions like sleep, pain, memory, appetite, etc., also affects the ideal amount of CBD isolate for your body. CBD isolate proper dosage is still an active research area, and higher quality research is required to find the appropriate dosing and safety recommendations. Hence, one should begin slow and low and increase their way up until they find their desired effects. Additionally, individuals should always seek professional medical guidance to help them during their CBD journey.

    Calculating CBD Isolate Dosage

Each CBD isolate product (capsules, gummies, etc.) dosage is expressed in units. Its dosage does not offer much flexibility for CBD edibles like gummies and capsules since they come pre-dosed. If one gummy or capsule did not give an individual the desired effects, they would have to take another one doubling the dosage. On the other hand, CBD oil is an easier choice if one wants to start with a lower amount. However, calculating its dosage is a bit difficult since they have a dropper making it hard for one to know the amount they are consuming since the dosage is listed on the bottle’s label.

Let’s say a 20 ml CBD isolate bottle contains around 1000 CBD milligrams, so, in one milliliter, how much mg of CBD is available? Since CBD products are not yet FDA regulated, their calculation may be difficult. However, one can find it by; figuring the volume per drop in the dropper, typically around 0.05 ml. If unsure, inquire from the company. From our example, the CBD isolate bottle measures 20 ml, and it contains around 1000 CBD milligrams, and each drop has 0.005 ml, so to find the amount of CBD mg per ml, you will divide the CBD mg the bottle contains by its entire volume; 1000mg/20ml=50mg/ml. Per drop the bottle has; 50mg/ml *0.005ml =2.5 mg in each drop.  So, each drop has around 2.5 CBD mg.

From there, it is easy to calculate the ideal dosage. For instance, if one consumes around twenty-five milligrams per day, 25mg/2.5mg per drop=10 drops; so, ten drops *2.5mg=0.5milliltres. They will require ten drops similar to 0.5 ml to attain your daily dosage of 25 milligrams. Luckily, various CBD products calculate the dosage for the consumer. For some, the dropper has to mark points making it easier for the consumer to know the amount they are ingesting.

CBD Isolate Dosage for Various Heath Conditions

Since CBD products are not yet FDA approved, as said earlier meaning; there is little guidance that helps a consumer know the right amount of dosage to consume. However, after a few clinical types of research, below is what was found concerning various CBD amounts for multiple conditions:

    • For sleep conditions like insomnia, around twenty-five milligrams daily
    • For anxiety, around three hundred to six hundred milligrams daily
    • For psychosis, about six hundred milligrams daily
    • For bowel disease, about ten milligrams daily
    • In particular, epilepsy forms around 2.5 milligrams twice daily
    • For arthritis pain, approximately thirty milligrams daily

Since other CBD isolate products do not list the ideal dosage, it may be challenging to know the required amount. Below are some helpful tips one might consider to ease the work for them:

    Know the CBD Sensitivity

How one's body tolerates CBD is essential to determine the required amount. A person should begin with a lower dosage if CBD effects are sensitive to their body. Some may require a more significant amount to get their desired effects.

    Individual Factors

The formulation and concentration of various products significantly determine the required amount. Other factors include the treatment, general health, age, and weight. Individuals with heavier weights may need more dosage to get similar effects to those who weigh less. Additionally, males require a larger dosage than women, and older people require less.

The Health Conditions One is Treating

Since each medical condition is unique, they all require different amounts to alleviate their symptoms. For example, suppose one is taking CBD to isolate sleep conditions. In that case, a person may require around twenty-five milligrams daily, and if it’s for anxiety, around three hundred to six hundred milligrams are needed daily.

Is It Possible to Overdose on CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is well tolerated by most bodies; taking more than the required amount (up to 1500 mg daily) can not cause adverse effects since the body can handle it. However, Moltke et al. (2021) explained that consuming too much of it may lead to unpleasant impacts like; nausea, dry mouth, changes in weight and appetite, drowsiness, fatigue, etc. In rare cases, it may cause liver damage. Furthermore, CBD has interacted with various medications, so you should always seek medical guidance before taking it.

    Conclusion

CBD isolate one of the three formulations of CBD, and since it is the most recommended one for beginners, many have questions concerning the ideal dosage to consume. Since CBD products are not yet FDA approved, it isn't easy to know the standard dosage. However, it is recommended that individuals begin slowly and gradually increase their way up until they find the desired effects. It is recommended for one to take around twenty-five milligrams daily if new to CBD. Other factors that may influence the amount of CBD isolate you take include symptoms one is treating, weight and age. Additionally, a person should seek a doctor’s guideline to hold their hand through the CBD journey.
