How CBD Helps In Treating Health Issues Without Causing The High?

The article explains the benefits of CBD to the health field without causing a sensation of highness by providing details and expert viewpoints on the types of CBD for treatment, things to consider before using CBD for medication, and available benefits of CBD in the medical field without causing highness.

Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, is a popular natural remedy for most ailments. It is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa plant. Another popular chemical compound in the cannabis plant is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the main psychoactive compound of cannabis associated mostly with marijuana users. It causes the sensation of getting high in its users. However, CBD compounds are non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive, making it an appealing option for those looking for health benefits such as relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and helping in sleeping and mental disorder without the mind-altering effects of cannabis.

Types of CBD Used for Treatment

CBD is defined as non-psychoactive chemical compounds extracted from the leaves, flowers, and stalk of cannabis/hemp plant then diluted with organic distillate such as hemp seed oil, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. Arkell et al. (2019) explained that CBD products do not cause addiction in their users; therefore, they are best suited for treating some health issues. Even though CBD is non-psychoactive, companies use a different extraction method resulting in three types of CBD products over the counter and in pharmacy. The CBD types may have been contaminated with other cannabinoids such as THC during extraction, most probably altering the patient's psychology. The CBD types include full-spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate. Unlike the other two, full spectrum CBD contains traces of THC compounds; therefore, it may harness the power of CBD to its user; however, it may cause highness in the process. Nonetheless, let's discuss the two other CBD types:

    Broad–spectrum CBD

It is the type of CBD that contains a range of naturally occurring cannabinoids from the cannabis plant except for the THC compound. The cannabinoids include terpenes, pinene,  cannabinol (CBN), and cannabichromene. To ensure no THC traces, the CBD type manufacturer uses the following extraction methods; steam distillation, lipid, and solvent extraction.

    CBD Isolate

It is a crystalline powder comprising only CBD compounds making it pure. It is tasteless and odorless and therefore best suited for sensitive people. It mostly comes from the hemp plant, which contains a high concentration of CBD compounds and low THC. The CBD-type manufacturer uses all available extraction methods to remove all cannabinoids in the cultivated plant, resulting in the remaining CBD-active compounds. Its pureness makes it best suited to cure and control most diseases symptom without users getting high.

Mullard & Asher. (2018) quoted that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not placed any regulations in control of usage and selling of CBD products. Therefore, most companies may sell CBD forms contaminated or products with an inappropriate dosage of CBD oil. It is important if you  are purchasing these supplements for your pains or sleeping disorder to  consider the following to avoid mind-altering effects:

    Product Ingredients

You can never wish to waste a fortune with a product containing an ingredient you are uncomfortable with. CBD products, especially for medication, should be completely natural and organic. Therefore settling for less is doing injustice to your mind and body.

    CBD Type

To avoid the feeling of getting high, don't purchase CBD product that contains full-spectrum  CBD compounds or any traces of THC.

    Extraction Methods

Knowing the extraction method used to create CBD products is very important. There are various techniques to extract CBD. Some methods are much more efficient than others, while others may leave a harmful residue within the product, which you do not want to consume since they can bring some undesirable effects such as highness. It is advisable by most CBD experts to purchase products extracted from the CO2 extraction method as it has proven to produce pure and good quality CBD products.

    Alcohol Consumption

It is important to avoid the consumption of alcohol when you are under CBD dosage. Because CBD is an active compound, it may react with alcoholic molecules, heightening the highness and resulting in effects such as impaired driving.

Benefits of CBD on Health Matters

After several studies, CBD is highly effective in following health issues with causing highness.

    Treating Sleeping Disorder

There are various types of sleeping disorders, from insomnia and walking to generalized sleeping disorders. CBD products are very helpful due to their calming effects to their users without causing highness as marijuana does. It enhances deep relaxation and calmness, resulting in higher quality sleep. Daytime brings alertness and freshness, thus stabilizing the elderly sleeping pattern.

    Controlling Anxiety and Depression

Wolters & Carlien. (2019) noted that CBD has antidepressant abilities that reduce anxiety by changing how brain receptors respond to problems. It also increases the production of serotonin hormone, which is responsible for stress relief. THC compound, on another hand, mostly interferes with the production of the hormone negatively; thus, after highness, stress intensifies.

    Pain Relief Management

Chronic pain from conditions such as Arthritis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and heart problems is very common among people. Studies show CBD may act as a painkiller, and unlike other painkillers, it has no negative effects such as highness. Moreover, CBD is anti-inflammatory; therefore, taking it orally for a long time changes how the brain perceives and responds to body pain.

     Bone Health

Most people who suffer from mobility health issues such as Arthritis may have bone problems. Plus, as people age, bones tend to weaken with time. CBD helps maintain bone calcium concentration without interfering with the psychological properties of the person. It also helps in cell production and repair, boosting bones' ability to heal.

    Cancer Treatment

Brien & Kylie (2022) stated that CBD alleviates cancer and medicinal-related symptoms such as depression, anxiety, nausea, and vomiting. These signs cause most cancer patients to give up on medications lowering their chances of surviving. It also controls inflammation and reproduction of tumor cells, reducing tumor growth.

    Heart and Mental Health

Most heart diseases cause mental issues. CBD can lower patients' blood pressure and stress, reducing cardiac inflammation resulting from oxidative stress. Moreover, Factors such as depression and anxiety play a big role in mental health problems. CBD is known to interact with brain receptors in mood regulation, thus promoting stress reduction.

    Side Effects of CBD

In health matters, CBD may not cause highness if used in a controlled dosage, but it may associate with the following side effects.

    Conclusion

CBD products have gained momentum in the medical field due to their health benefits, such as treating chronic pain and inflammation, mental, bone, and heart disease control, cancer treatment, and aid in reducing stress and anxiety without psychological effects. However, FDA has not regulated the selling of medical CBD products in the pharmacy; therefore, it is important to purchase pure and organic CBD products by considering several factors such as CBD source and company extraction method.
