Can CBD Isolate Get You High?

CBD isolate contains only cannabidiol as the extracted compound from the plant and thus does not make you feel high since, unlike THC, it does not have the psychoactive effect.

Many people have heard about cannabinoids but do not know what it is. Some are still in the dark because the compound is derived from the cannabis plant, believed to intoxicate the user. Many legislations revolved around the compound. Recently the compound has been widely appreciated and easily accessed by many people in different forms, including soaps, lotions, vapes, and tinctures. Cannabinoids from the cannabis plant have garnered trust from many people since it has proved to be a natural remedy for many health conditions. Due to the legalization of the cannabinoids by the food and drug administration, hemp-derived CBD is approved for use in 50 states and a few others which use cannabis-derived CBD.

    CBD Isolate; What Is It?

Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, is the second most known compound derived from the cannabis and hemp plant. However, CBD derived from the hemp plant is emphasized by the food and drug administration since the source contains less THC. THC is the most popular marijuana compound that has a psychoactive effect; alters the consumer's mental state.

CBD extracted from the plant is in three types: CBD isolate, full spectrum CBD, and broad-spectrum CBD. The full spectrum CBD, also known as the whole plant CBD, contains all the plant's compounds, including THC. However, the legal amount of THC in any CBD product is limited to below 0.3% because the amount is approved to be safe for human consumption.

The broad-spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids except THC. Therefore, it is bests for people who want to avoid THC in their CBD products. Most topical CBD products contain this form of CBD.

CBD isolate is also known as the pure form of CBD since it does not have any other compound from the plant. There are limitations to benefiting from other CBD compounds but enjoying all the therapeutic effects of CBD. Since this form of CBD does not contain THC, the user cannot get high from it or have a false test result. The plant extract is subjected to more processes to have the CBD isolate. Therefore, consider the type of CBD infused in the product.

    How CBD Works

CBD affects the body by interacting with endocannabinoid receptors in the humans body. These receptors are found in the skin, brain, and nerves. The endocannabinoid receptors are divided into two, namely CB1 and CB2. Cannabinoids bind the CB1 and CB2 receptors, while THC acts on CB1 receptors only, thus causing hallucinations. The cannabinoid receptors have diverse functions in the body, including changes in appetite, moderate senses, and enhancing the well-functioning of the immune system.

    Formulations of CBD Products

CBD is infused in many products in diverse designs, including topicals, vapes, sublingual, and edibles.

    CBD Topicals

CBD topicals are the widest since it entails many skin care products, including lotion salves, balms, bath bombs, creams, and transdermal patches. Topicals are designed for external use and applied on the skin surface. Most CBD products for pain are used topically. Therefore, they can be applied directly to the affected area, thus providing fast relief by interacting with the cannabinoid receptors in the skin. The compounds also extend the effect to the deep in the body, including the nerves, and solve other underlying issues.
    Edibles

CBD edibles include gummies, considered the most discrete and simple way of enjoying CBD. It is also good for beginners because it can cover the earthy taste. It does not limit with time or place to enjoy them. CBD edibles are subjected to the first pass process and thus take quite a long time for the effect to the surface. However, the effect will last for a long and thus be good for improving sleep, especially if your issue is staying asleep.

     CBD Sublingual

CBD sublingual, for example, tinctures, are designed to be absorbed into the bloodstream under the tongue. Tinctures are solutions made from soaked cannabis leaves in alcohol. They are considered to have high bioavailability since they are directly absorbed into the bloodstream, unlike edibles which are digested fast.

    CBD Vapes

Vapes are also called e-liquids that are majorly used by inhaling the compound directly into the lungs. Dababneh et al. (2020) noted that vaping is healthier than smoking since the compounds are not subject to full combustion. Vaping is done with the use of vape pens. CBD taken through vaping has a fast effect since the content is directly absorbed into the bloodstream.

In any form of CBD administration for effect to the surface, they interact with the cannabinoids found all over the body. CB1 is in the brain and the nerves, while CB2 is found in the immune system and other body organs. It is advisable to consider starting low when taking CBD since people react differently to it. Do not use CBD as a substitute for your medication because although the compound has proved reliable, it is not satisfactory for medical use. Consult the doctor since the compound reacts with other drugs. Teitelbaum (2019) explained that epidiolex is the only CBD drug approved for medical use; it is used for treating two rare forms of epilepsy diagnosed in childhood.

Why You Should Consider Using CBD

    Pain Relief

According to Überall (2020), CBD can relieve different forms of pain, including muscle and nerve pains. This is one of the main reasons for the wide spread of CBD. Most CBD for pain is designed for topical use. CBD is believed to provide relaxation and soothing to the body, thus reducing pain. It is also used in treating health conditions characterized by pain example, arthritis. Patients with arthritis had significant improvement after using the CBD drug known as Sativex compared to a placebo.

    Anti-inflammation
There are internal and external inflammations that are associated with health conditions. Pellati et al. (2018) concluded that CBD could reduce inflammation due to its soothing effect on the skin. Also, it can be used to treat acne and eczema, skin conditions characterized by swelling on the skin surface.

    Conclusion

CBD isolate is a type of CBD that does not have a psychoactive effect due to the lack of THC traces. Hemp-derived CBD is emphasized by the food and drug administration since the plant contains a high amount of CBD compared to one that has THC. CBD has made its way tap the market due to the infusion in many products, including skin care products which many people easily access both in walk-in stores and online. CBD can help reduce different forms of pain and reduce inflammation. However, it is advisable to consult your doctor and always start low and slow to know the exact dosage you need.
