Introducing 7 New Cannabinoid Formulations: Delta-10, HHC, THC-O, THCV, and More

The cannabis plant has over one hundred compounds; however, not all are known. Recently, some compounds have been discovered, such as Delta-10, HHC, THC-O, THCV, and more. This article talks about these products.

About one hundred cannabinoid products are found in the cannabis plant today, although CBD has been the most famous compound for a while. Recent technologies have looked at these compounds more carefully and with deeper insight. The demand for CBD products has also opened up the possibility for other compounds such as Delta 10, HHC-O, THC-O, and others. This article looks at these compounds and discusses what you need to know about these new cannabis compounds.

Why Are There So Many Compounds?

Andre et al. (2016) showed that the cannabis plant has over one hundred compounds, most of which occur naturally in the plant as it grows. Some of these compounds only occur in the younger plant and then break down to form other compounds as the plant gets older, like CBN, which breaks down to form CBD and THC. As the plant ages, Cherney & Small (2016) revealed that CBN is available in a small percentage, while THC and CBD dominate most of the Hemp plant.

Because of the success that CBD has had in the market, many companies have entered the market to make products that appeal to the public. You can find many companies combining different cannabinoid products in the plant and those that are synthetically generated to give off the desired therapeutic effects. Some cannabinoids such as THC-O have been made synthetically; THC-O was usually used in government experiments as a harmless sedative. Some of these compounds in the cannabis plant exist naturally, and some exist because they were made synthetically.

    Delta 10, HHC, THC-O, and THC-V

You have heard about CBD products if you are passionate about all the new medications and health possibilities. The cannabis industry has evolved to be more about CBD products. You can find several products these days, but before trying these compounds, find out more about them.

    Delta-10

This is a close cousin of Delta-9, the THC most people smoke today, and has been a favorite choice by many in the cannabis market. This compound of THC was discovered unknowingly; however, it has gained itself a stage among the most talked about compounds of cannabis. Delta-10 was discovered when a cannabis batch was accidentally contaminated by some fire retardants used by firefighters to put out forest fires in the Californian bushfires. Later some strange crystals were found as a result of this mixture, and after purification and an extensive study, this new compound was discovered to have interesting pharmacological properties.

The crystals were then identified as a variant of the Delta-9 THC, and although they have some similar chemical structures, they have different effects on the body when taken. Freeman et al. (2019) noted that Delta 10 THC is thought to be less powerful and has fewer effects than Delta 9 THC, although this compound also has psychoactive properties.

    THC-P

It is one of the most interesting compounds of the cannabis plant. THC-P (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is one of the most powerful compounds of the cannabis plant. This compound is naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. However, researchers recently found it in the hemp plant because it is usually found in very rare trace amounts in the plant. They found this compound to be about 10 times more powerful than Delta 9, which normal people consume in THC. Modern technology has provided more information about this product because they found its ability to cause euphoric effects when consumed.

    THC-O

This is a major competitor of THC-P. Although THC-O is amongst the most powerful compounds of the cannabis plant, it has been recently overthrown by THC-P. However, it still deserves the respect that it was getting. This synthetically developed analog of THC has been found to have similar pharmacological properties to THC. However, because of its complexity, it can only be manufactured by skilled experts, thanks to modern technology that allows us to isolate these compounds.

    HHC

According to Golombek et al. (2020), HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol) is a naturally occurring compound in the cannabis plant. However, just like THC-P, this compound is found in a very small amount in the cannabis plant. This is what has made its extraction and isolation quite the task. This is what has mainly made many companies that venture into its production opt to synthetically create it by extracting some molecules of the hemp-derived CBD.

    HHC-O

HHC-O is the acetate version of HHC. This compound is more powerful than normal HHC and is thought to be the closest one can get to Delta 9 THC. Just like HHC, this compound is less known in the market, and a lot must be done.

    THC-V

This cannabinoid is found in the cannabis plant and is slightly similar to THC. However, THC-V has some structural elements that are slightly different from THC, making it have different effects than THC. Although it has been researched for a long time, it has only made its way into the market in recent years. However, its psychoactive effects and ability to interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors have made this cannabinoid one of the favorites as it is thought to have uplifting and energetic effects.

    Conclusion

The cannabis market is constantly changing, with different compounds being discovered due to modern technology allowing these compounds to be discovered. Moreover, as most of these compounds are being discovered, more benefits also come. This article has discussed some of the few cannabis compounds that have been discovered recently, but research has revealed how much progress the industry has made through the years. The information you have read in this article is just enough to help you understand more about these new products. However, much more information is under the rug about cannabis.
