CBG is a common cannabinoid from the cannabis and hemp plant. It is essential in the body since it can relieve pain, reduce inflammation, manage cancer by preventing the growth of cancer cells and prevent and treat bacterial infection.
The cannabis plant has become popular since the legalization of its compounds which are associated with diverse health benefits. Cannabigerol (CBG) is among the most known cannabinoids after THC and CBD. CBG hit the market due to its health-associated benefits. Notably, CBG and CBD are similar in certain aspects, although they have a few differences too. The cannabis derivative works synergistically with other cannabinoids to enhance the well-being of the body. Most research back up the ability of CBG to offer therapeutic effects to the body. CBG is one of the most cannabinoids derived from hemp. Unlike THC and CBD, it is domiciled in the young cannabis plant. The CBGA, the acidic form of CBG, is converted into CBD and THC as the plant grows. CBG is scarce; it is found in low quantities in full-grown plants. In an extract, CBG can be 1%, CBD 20% to 25 %, and THC 25% to 30%, which makes it rare and expensive. It does not have a psychoactive effect on the user like marijuana.
CBG can reduce inflammation, treat bacterial infections, and prevent the growth of cancer cells. The cannabis derivative interacts with the endocannabinoid system through the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The cannabinoid receptors are found in the skin, nerves, and brain. The CB1 receptors are found in the brain and nerves, while CB2 are domiciled in the immune system and other body parts. Unlike THC, which binds with the ECS receptors to alter brain functioning, CBG binds with these receptors to provide relief for various irregular body functions? They also suppress the psychoactive effects of THC.
CBG is extracted from cannabis plant and added to carrier oil, to make it consumable to the body. Consequently, CBG is available in the form of oil. Due to scarcity, the aforementioned oil is expensive and rare. But this does not limit you from the benefit of the cannabis compound. Broad spectrum CBD contains all plant compounds, including terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids, creating an alternative for CBG products. In its oil form, you can take it orally.
According to Aqawi et al. (2021), CBG can be used to prevent infection caused by bacteria and fungi. It has an antibacterial and fungal effect. Research shows that CBG can fight against methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a bacterium that causes staph infections and is mainly resistant to drugs.
Most inflammations are accompanied by pain. Internal and external swelling can affect your daily life and productivity since they make you feel uncomfortable. According to Hill et al. (2016), CBG can help reduce inflammation due to its anti-inflammatory effects. For example, CBG can help treat inflammatory bowel disease, a health condition characterized by severe swelling in the bowel. The condition has no cure, but research shows CBG reduces inflammation caused by the disease.
Cancer is one of the most troublesome diseases for which the cause is not known and the cure not invented. Cancer can attack different body parts, including the colon. According to Lu et al. (2017), CBG may block cancer cell growth receptors and prevent colorectal cancer. Therefore, CBG can help prevent colon cancer, although more studies are needed to ascertain the assertions.

CBG has proven reliable, although it is scarce. Many farmers have tried different ways to increase CBG amounts, including cross-breeding and the use of genetic modification.
CBG is less available in quantity, making the compound rare and expensive. However, you can benefit from the compound by using the broad-spectrum CBD, which contains all cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids except THC. CBD and CBG have many similarities. For example, they interact with the endocannabinoid receptors to reduce irregular body balance. They are also non-psychoactive and do not alter the user's mental state. Like other cannabinoids, CBG has different health-associated benefits, such as anti-inflammation and antibacterial. It can also treat Huntington's disease. THC and CBD is the product of CBDA, an acidic compound of CBD. Therefore, CBG is high in young plants compared to fully grown plants, where the compound is converted to THC and CBD.
