    How Can CBD Affect You?

    CBD has different effects depending on the type; full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. Various factors can cause CBD negative effects, including extraction methods and other elements.

    CBD oil is only helpful to health like other medications if taken with considerable potency. CBD is gaining popularity and is being used in various clinical trials, including for treating cancer and COVID-19, due to its therapeutic properties. The types of CBD oils are isolate, broad-spectrum, and isolate. The types of CBD are differentiated using the various chemical compound of cannabis sativa or hemp; tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), terpenes, and flavonoids. However, not all the elements are safe. Unlike terpenes, flavonoids, and CBD, THC seems to have higher risks, resulting in its limitation. Before using any CBD product, you should understand its potential side effects. However, various factors determine how CBD will affect you, including the type of CBD.

    Is CBD Legal?

    Cultivation of cannabis sativa and production of its products was legalized by the 2018 Farm Bill. However, regulations limit the production, usage, and spread of hemp and cannabis-based products. According to the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD products are only legal if THC levels are below 0.3%. Fattore et al. (2011) added that THC could cause anxiety, dizziness, change in appetite, red eyes, and dry lips, especially in high potencies. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) was regulated due to its intoxicating side effects. Therefore, CBD oil is only legal with its THC levels below 0.3%.

    Although CBD was legalized within the US, federal governments are mandated to restrict them as per the 2018 Farm Bill. As a result, 12 states, including Texas and Tennessee, are yet to legalize hemp-based products within their territories. Traveling with CBD oil from one state to another requires caution to avoid violating federal laws.

    Types of CBD and Their Effects

    The first thing to focus on when buying CBD is the type. What is the impact of the type of CBD you are going for? Here are some of the pros and cons of each type of CBD oil;

    Isolate CBD

    Although isolate CBD is rare, it has various benefits and side effects. It is also considered pure CBD since it is void of other elements, including THC, terpenes, and flavonoids. Pure or isolate CBD is only linked to cannabidiol health benefits, limiting you from entourage effect; the ability of multiple elements working together to provide more health benefits. The absence of THC makes pure CBD an alternative to full-spectrum CBD to avoid its intoxicating side effects. Schoedel Kerri et al. (2018) noted that CBD could be used for treating epilepsy, an approved health benefit. However, it can only be effective in considerable amounts. Liu Tina (2019) commented that although CBD is associated with various health benefits, including treating anxiety, too much of it can cause diarrhea, change in appetite, and dry lips.

    Broad Spectrum

    Broad-spectrum is the most convenient alternative for full-spectrum CBD since it has multiple elements suitable for entourage effect but without THC. Broad-spectrum CBD oil has CBD, flavonoids, and terpenes. Broad-spectrum CBD  has fewer effects than advantages. De Assis et al. (2021) suggested it for various health implications, including handling pain and lowering anxiety. However, it is only useful in considerable potencies. Hermush Vered et al. (2022) also argued that broad-spectrum CBD has fewer negative side effects and only occurs at high potency levels.

    Full Spectrum

    Full-spectrum CBD oil is the most common since they require little effort in extraction. They are also associated with multiple health benefits due to entourage effects. All the elements of the hemp plant work together to provide more health benefits than pure CBD. However, it is the riskiest. Full-spectrum CBD has all the elements of hemp, including THC. Niesink et al. (2013) concluded that THC has psychoactive effects that can make you dizzy or anxious.

    THC levels in all CBD products were limited to 0.3% to minimize the intoxicating side effects. Therefore, any CBD oil with THC levels exceeding 0.3% is illegal. Marijuana CBD is illegal unless THC levels are reduced to 0.3% from over 10%. Therefore, consider a broad spectrum of entourage effects if you wish to avoid intoxicating side effects.

    What Determines the Safety Of CBD Oil?

    Besides the side effects of either type of CBD, various factors also determine their effects. Some include;

    Extraction Method

    Isolating specific elements from the hemp plant requires a critical extraction method that will not interfere with the crude oils' purity levels. The most appropriate and effective way of obtaining hemp plant extracts is either by CO2 or ethanol. However, ethanol is likely to contaminate the end products. Rochfort Simone (2020) suggested CO2 since it minimizes contamination of the end products. Therefore, consider CBD oil manufactured with CO2 hemp plant extracts crude oil. This will help you avoid taking chemical solvents infiltrating the end products. CO2 engages minimum chemicals, lowering the risk of contamination. Contaminated CBD oils can result in negative impacts instead of improving your health.

    Other Elements

    Nearly everyone is looking for the most appropriate way of using CBD oil without interacting with the awful taste. CBD oil manufacturers are now offering various flavors to help counter interact the awful taste. However, the elements used are important since they determine purity and efficiency. Avoid CBD oils blended with artificial sweeteners such as potassium. Bridge-Comer et al. (2021) noted that potassium and other artificial sweeteners could interfere with your sexual productivity and metabolism.

    The Potency Levels

    Posting wrong potency levels of CBD is an ill trend that should concern you. The Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA) has been sending warnings to brands sharing wrong potency levels and putting their customers at risk of overdosing unknowingly. The last thing you wish is to experience CBD's side effects due to unknowingly overdosing. Therefore, check on the potency levels before taking CBD oil.

    Conclusion

    CBD oil's main side effects include dizziness, anxiety, dry lips, and diarrhea. Unlike other elements of the hemp plant, THC has intoxicating effects that can get you "high." Consider low potency levels to avoid side effects since they are likely caused by overdosing. Consider other factors that might interfere with the purity levels, such as ingredients. Only consider CBD oil with organic ingredients. CO2 is the best way of obtaining hemp plant extracts without contaminating them. Besides, avoid CBD oil without lab results since it can be fake. Lab results help you confirm the actual potency levels to avoid overdosing unknowingly. They also help to avoid taking heavy metals and chemical solvents that might have contaminated the products during manufacturing.
