How Yoga Mums Can Use CBD for Energy

Yoga is a common practice adopted from ancient India involving mental, spiritual, and physical practices or disciplines. There is no doubt that yoga is gaining popularity amongst older and younger folks. Despite the stereotypes surrounding it, for example, yoga is a practice only for women, more men are embracing yoga, and for the right reasons.

Yoga improves cardiovascular health and sleep quality, relieves muscle pains and inflammation, and increases energy levels. CBD, more or less, does the same thing, although it is more of a plant extract than a physical practice. CBD complements yoga in various ways. Intense yoga sessions can leave you exhausted and your muscles quite painful. This is where CBD comes in because it has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce muscle pains and inflammation. We shall take a closer look at CBD and how yoga mums can use CBD to boost their energy levels. Learn more about cbd delivery methods

Analyzing CBD: Is It Worth All the Enthusiasm?

Unsurprisingly, CBD has grown more popular in recent years. According to Cooray, Gupta & Suphioglu (2020), CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid primarily found in hemp. Hemp, alongside marijuana, is a plant strain of the cannabis plant. Both plant strains have varying levels of CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, CBD is more popular because of its therapeutic properties. Moreover, it does not make you feel high.

CBD is highly adaptable as it can be infused into foods, drinks, oils, edibles, and topical creams. It is no surprise that skincare enthusiasts are also insisting on using CBD oil products on their skin. According to Atalay, Jarocka-Karpowicz & Skrzydlewska (2020), CBD has antioxidant properties, which help remove fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. CBD does this by stabilizing free radicals that damage skin cells. So, how does CBD boost energy levels?

    Benefits of CBD for Yoga

Triggering Increased Secretion of Serotonin Hormone

After an intense yoga session, yoga mums want to unwind and relax. Even though the purpose of yoga is to relax your muscles and reduce stress levels, unwinding further and letting your body rest naturally is beneficial for your overall health

According to Sales et al. (2018), CBD interacts with the serotonin receptors, which trigger the production of higher serotonin hormones. It is key in regulating mood, sleep, nausea, digestion, improving bone health, and reducing high anxiety levels. People with depression and high-stress levels are known to have low serotonin levels. Therefore, increasing the serotonin hormone levels in your body would reduce high stress and anxiety levels and improve mood and sleep quality. Every yoga mum should aim to achieve high-quality sleep.

When getting deep sleep, you can boost your energy levels when you wake up. This is because deep sleep is characterized by high amplitude and low-frequency brain waves. Therefore, deep sleep helps in relaxing body tension, removing toxins from the body, improving cardiovascular health, and restoring hormonal balance. Learn more about how do i choose a cbd?

    Binding with Endocannabinoid Receptors

CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system by binding with endocannabinoid receptors in various body parts. The endocannabinoid system is a complex system comprising receptors, enzymes, and molecules. These components work harmoniously to maintain a balanced body state. Therefore, the endocannabinoid system is key in immune response, pain control, temperature control, learning and memory, and emotional response.

CBD binds with endocannabinoid receptors, leading to the transmission of impulses that reduce muscle pain and inflammation. Endocannabinoid receptors include CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are located in the brain and spine, while CB2 receptors are in the spleen and white blood cells.

Additionally, CBD binds with endocannabinoid receptors, which help strengthen the anandamide function. Anandamide is a neurotransmitter that helps in regulating mood and sleep. Therefore, having a good night’s sleep will help boost your energy levels once you wake up.

    Alleviating Inflammation

After an intense yoga session, it is common for yoga mums to feel the effects of inflammation in their joints. Traditionally, people would use ice to reduce inflammation. However, this proved less effective, as it would provide a cooling effect for a shorter period.

CBD effectively helps in reducing inflammation. It reduces the activity and the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines that intensify inflammation in the muscles and joints. Furthermore, CBD reduces inflammation by increasing blood flow to the inflamed area, and inhibiting cell proliferation, thereby clearing out the cellular debris as well as by-products of muscle activity such as lactic acids

    Reducing Muscle Soreness

CBD reduces the delayed onset of muscle soreness. This is a unique type of pain that occurs between 1 and 3 days of participating in an intense exercise. If this pain lasts longer, it may make it more difficult for you to continue exercising or practicing yoga.

CBD has analgesic properties that reduce muscle pains. It is also more advantageous because it is organic. Therefore, it does not present side effects otherwise presented by inorganic supplements. These side effects include headaches, vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea.

How Terpenes Play a Role in Boosting CBD’s Energetic Effect

Terpenes are natural chemical compounds found in plants, which are responsible for their characteristic scent. According to Cho et al. (2017), terpenes have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce muscle pain and inflammation. Additionally, it suggested terpenes have antioxidant properties that help relax the muscles and ease body tension.

Various terpenes are present in CBD. These terpenes include linalool, limonene, myrcene, and caryophyllene. Linalool is majorly associated with reducing anxiety and easing body tension. On the other hand, limonene increases cheerfulness and opens the heart chakra, making yoga an enjoyable experience.

    CBD Formulations for Yoga Mums

There are three major CBD formulations. People use these formulations differently, depending on the magnitude of their desired therapeutic effects.

Full spectrum CBD oil contains all cannabinoids, including terpenes and flavonoids. However, THC levels are less than 0.3% to reduce the possibility of psychoactive effects.

Broad spectrum CBD is similar to full-spectrum CBD in terms of chemical ingredients. However, it does not contain THC because it has been extracted from it. CBD isolate contains pure CBD since all other chemical ingredients are absent from it.

Full spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD are known to exhibit the entourage effect. The entourage effect is a phenomenon in which the various cannabinoids and terpenes present in CBD work synergically to improve the therapeutic effects. They can be administered sublingually, making the effects kick in faster. They can also be ingested using CBD gummies or capsules, which would make the effects last longer (2-6 hours)

    Summary

Yoga is an amazing practice that helps reconnect your mind and spirit while exercising your body and improving energy and happiness levels. CBD is the right tool to accompany yoga to ensure that it is a pleasurable experience. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce inflammation. Furthermore, CBD reduces high levels of stress and anxiety by triggering the production of higher serotonin levels, effectively reducing cortisol (stress hormone) levels. Additionally, CBD improves sleep quality by strengthening the function of anandamide and triggering the secretion of higher melatonin levels. CBD also contains terpenes such as linalool and limonene. Linalool helps reduce high anxiety levels, while limonene opens the heart chakra, making you happier and more energetic.
