Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDa): A Brief Guide

Cannabinoid acid represents the major phytocannabinoid in hemp seed oil and fiber. Cannabidiol acid synthase CBDAS enhances the biosynthesis of the compound and acts as the catalyst for the oxidation of the cannabigerol acid into cannabidiolic acid.

Cannabis has many compound compounds which are associated with diverse health benefits. The cannabis plant contains cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Among the cannabinoids, there are the most common ones such as THC, CBD, and CBDa. Cannabinoid acid has come into the show of the world since the legalization of CBD by the food and drug administration. The acid is associated with anti-inflammation, anti-convulsant, and anti-cancer. You can know about CBDa by focusing on its bioactivity and molecular structure. The compound is found in all marijuana family plants. Hemp and cannabis Sativa are majorly used since they tend to have low amounts of THC, the commonly known marijuana compound, for its psychoactive effect on the user.

    Cannabinoid Acid: What Is It?

Cannabinoid acid represents the major phytocannabinoid in hemp seed oil and fiber. Cannabidiol acid synthase CBDAS enhances the biosynthesis of the compound and acts as the catalyst for the oxidation of the cannabigerol acid into cannabidiolic acid. Tetrahydro cannabidiolic acid synthase is where the cannabidiolic acid synthase evolved and thus belongs to the same family of berberine bridge enzymes. The synthesis process is quite long but briefly; the acyl-activating enzyme AAE forms the hexanol-CoA, where it later cyclizes to olivetolic acid (OA). OA results in cabbigerolic acid CBGA by CBGA synthase, which when it undergoes oxidation upgrades to CBDA, THCA. or cannabichromene acid (CBCA).

The new interest of the world in cannabis and hemp has led or more research being carried out on its therapeutic and medical. Hemp has gained popularity as a sustainable green crop. Hemp compounds are infused in different products, including medicine, food and beverages, and skincare products. According to Watt & Karl (2017), cannabis plants contain tetrahydrocannabinol THC, which is widely known for its hallucinogenic property; can alter the user's mental state. Although it is condemned and considered a guilty substance, THC, in conjunction with other compounds of ten plants, including CBD, works together for the well-being of the body by forming an entourage effect. However, the THC amount is limited to below 0.3%, certified non-toxic.

The growth of hemp and marijuana laws varies among nations. Most states license farmers who grow hemp. This is because cannabis plants tend to absorb compounds from the soil; when grown with many chemicals, they will be traced in the end product and thus lower the quality and the potency. Cannabidiolic acid is becoming the main protagonist in fiber and hemp seed oil; however, its health benefits are  still  covered., however, this overlooked compound is associated with different pharmacological features of its analog.

    CBD as a Bioactive Compound

CBD's potential benefits are linked to the bioactive effect of its derivative, CBD. CBD is the second most common cannabinoid, widely appreciated for its health effect on the body. CBD affects the body by binding the CBD1 and the CB2 receptors. THC has the same effect on the receptors but tends to major on CB1 receptors, which I the cause of mental intoxication. However, when CBD and THC complement each other's effects by creating an entourage effect, they can have diverse effects, such as alleviating anxiety and treating epilepsy. According to Pellati et al. ( 2018), CBD can help reduce internal and external inflammation and thus can help in treating arthritis.

CBD prevents the hydrolysis and absorption of anandamide. According to Überall (2020), CBD can help relieve different forms of pain. Pain can be inevitable and can be a result of a health condition. It can be chronic or severe. Whichever form of pain affects your daily activities and productivity due to restlessness. CBD alleviates any form of pain, including nerve muscle and joint pains. Sativex, a CBD drug, is used in treating arthritis and multiple sclerosis, health conditions characterized by severe pain.

Although the effect of CBDa is linked to CBD, there are conditions in which CBDa exerts the impact with less potency than cannabidiol. Rock et al. (2021) suggested that CBDA prevents nausea caused by toxins or motion sickness. It was evident that the effect of CBD on the brain receptors is similar to that of CBDA. However, the study above also proved that CBDA shows a more powerful effect on the brain by reducing emetic attacks. It further reduced conditioned nausea. Shannon & Opila-Lehman (2016) noted that CBD could help improve sleep since it has a soothing and relaxing effect on the body and the brain. The study above suggested that it can ease pain and alleviate diverse mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder.

CBD's effect is rated beyond other cannabinoids because of its viability, cell dynamics, and proliferation. Zito et al. (2019) found that CBD effects on cancer are less than CBD until MDA-MB-231 cells were tested, where the compound showed a triple negative cancer cell line. CBDA showed reliability since it could prohibit migration of the caver cells and degrade proto-oncogene C-fos.

CBDA is linked to diverse medical impacts on the body; however, the discovery of drugs in the pharmacokinetic profile is not essential in making anti-tumor drugs.

The hemp revolution makes the compounds from the pant hit the market in different formulations. This opens aways for more cultivation of hemp consistent due to the health benefits. The compounds can be in the form of sublingual edibles and topicals, and vapes. Cannabidiolic acid is the main cannabinoid constituent in hemp seed oil, and the product's CBD and CBDA ratio should be indicated by the manufacturers, including during the production process. According to Baral et al.(2020), hemp seed oil can be used to prevent and treat bacterial and fungal infections since it has an antibacterial effect.

    Conclusion

cannabis plants have different compounds that all significantly affect the human body. Cannabis compounds differ in their components; for example, ether is a product with whole plant products commonly caused by the full spectrum CBD; this type of hemp contains all the plant components, including  THC. The broad spectrum contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Most CBD products, especially drugs, contain cannabidiol, tetrahydrocannabinol, and cannabidiol acid. Cannabidiolic acid is less studied, however, since it is among the major compounds of the hemp plant. There is a need for further studies on the compound to broaden the knowledge.
