    Cannabinoids such as CBD and THC are chemically similar to the endogenous cannabinoids the body produces naturally. As a consequence of this, their interactions with the CB1 and CB2 receptors are quite distinct. These exogenous cannabinoids, produced outside the body, are responsible for a wide range of actions and affect a number of the physiological processes that occur inside our bodies.

    Feldner & Weerts (2022) indicated that people who consume cannabis frequently report experiencing the stereotypical "munchies" effect. One of how these exogenous cannabinoids alter the processes going on inside us is illustrated by the phenomenon known as "the munchies," which describes a condition of acute hunger that frequently accompanies the intake of cannabis.
