How Does CBG Make You Feel?

What is CBG? How does CBG work when consumed by an individual? What benefits of using CBG? What side effects of consuming CBG? This article explains what CBG is and how it makes an individual feel when consumed.

Individuals who have never taken CBG might wonder what it feels like. CBG products might not be as many as CBD products. If you have taken full-spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD oil, you have consumed CBG. There is a limited medical study on CBG. There is reliable information depending on users' experiences. This article will help you understand how it feels.

    What is CBG?

CBG is a compound derived from the hemp plant. It was discovered in 1946 by two cannabis researchers, Raphael Mechoulam and Yehiel Gaoni. It is found in small amounts, not exceeding 1% in a full-grown hemp tree. A young hemp plant may produce a relatively high amount of this compound. The scarcity of CBG has led to limited medical research on how it works and its effects. CBG products are also very expensive for the same reason. Unlike THC, CBG is non-intoxicating. There are three types of CBG products full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and CBG isolates. CBG isolate products are the rarest among the three.

How Does CBG Work In The Human Body?

Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system has a network of receptors in all major organs and tissues. These receptors are of two main types, referred to as CB1 and CB2. CB1 is located in the brain, while CB2 is in the peripheral nervous system. Once CBG is ingested, it interacts with these receptors, affecting their work. Research shows that Maroon & Bost (2018) explained that CBG works more on CB2 than CB1. As CBG binds to ECS receptors, the effects such as reduction of pain and inflammation are felt.

How Does CBG Make You Feel?

Individuals who have taken CBG have reported similar feelings apart from very few that differ. There is limited scientific research on the effects of CBG, as most of the information is based on individuals’ experiences.

Gulfo et al. (2019) explained most people had reported a notable increase in energy after taking CBG. It makes you feel more alert and calmer. This calm mind eliminates distractions and makes one feel fully present with a single task. CBG also increases mental clarity. It makes your mind think broadly, making it easy for analytical work as it increases focus. A small percentage have reported a piece of contradicting information as they claim that CBG made them very calm and less energetic.

Does CBG Make You Feel High?

If you are looking for a hemp product to make you feel high, CBG is not good. Dawidowicz et al. (2021) explained that, just like compound CBD, it has no psychotropic effects and can’t make you high. However, taking too much CBG gives you an extra-ordinary calmness that you might confuse with the feeling of taking THC. Therefore, CBG is safe but more research is needed on other long-term effects of this compound.

What Are The Health Benefits Of CBG?

CBG compound has many properties that make it treat both chronic and mild illnesses. Some of these illnesses include:

    Nausea

Nausea is the feeling of wanting to vomit. Though CBG is not strong in treating this condition compared to CBD, it can provide relief from nausea. Animal studies have shown that administering CBG reduces nausea and vomiting.

    Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a common eye condition that is the leading cause of blindness. It is caused by abnormal pressure in the eye that causes damage to the optic nerve. Walsh et al. (2021) explained that CBG could combat this pressure by reversing the condition. Glaucoma can be treated by topical application of CBG together with THC.

    Cancer

CBG has shown positive effects in treating colon cancer, but this finding is limited to animal studies and preclinical conditions. CBG reduces cancer pain as well as cancer tumors. It also prevents the growth of new cancer cells. CBG might also treat breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and melanoma cancer. There is a need for more research to support these findings. Research shows that CBG is more effective when combined with THC and CBG.

    Bacterial Infections

Some bacterial infections can cause severe illness and sometimes death. CBG has anti-bacterial properties that can eliminate even the stubborn bacteria that become resistant to anti-bacterial drugs. Aqawi et al. (2020) explained that CBG could eliminate Staphylococcus aureus, which is known for resisting pharmaceutical drugs as it is common in hospitals. CBG is more effective in eliminating bacteria than any other cannabinoids.

    Anxiety And Depression

Excess anxiety can lead to depression. CBG can help in managing anxiety. Research shows that CBG is more effective than CBD management of this disorder. CBG binds to CB1 receptors calming the central nervous system.

    Treat inflammation

Inflammation can cause chronic pain. Some of the illnesses caused by inflammation include arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. CBG is very promising in eliminating inflammation. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that bind CB1 and CB2 receptors reducing pain.

    Improves Appetite.

Lack of appetite is a common problem among people suffering from serious illnesses such as cancer and HIV. Such patients need to take healthy meals to boost their immunity. CBG is good at stimulating appetite. Studies show that CBG administered to rats stimulated their appetites, increasing food intake by inducing hunger. However, CBG was most effective when combined with THC. There is a need for human studies to show how CBG can impact human appetite.

What Are the Shortcomings Of CBG?

One of the major problems with CBG is its scarcity. It is not easy to get a CBG isolate product on the market. Mostly, you will be forced to buy full-spectrum or Broad-spectrum CBD products to get the benefits of CBG from them. There is limited research on the effectiveness of CBG in treating human diseases. Most of the available information is based on animals and preclinical conditions in humans. CBG has side effects such as fatigue, changes in appetite, diarrhea, dry mouth, and drowsiness, and there is limited information on the ability of CBG to interact with other drugs.

    Conclusion

Ingesting CBG has a lot of impact on your brain. The impact it has on the brain affects how you feel. It makes you feel calm, relaxed, focused, fully present, and more energized. It also improves mental clarity. CBG can treat serious and mild illnesses such as anxiety, cancer, bacterial infections, and glaucoma and improve appetite.
