DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE RECOMMENDED LEVELS OF CBD DOSAGE?

The use of CBD has gone viral and everybody wants to embrace it. If one is among those beginning to use CBD, it might be challenging to know the correct dosage that should be taken since a medical officer might not prescribe CBD products.

Correct usage of a drug ensures it achieves the desired effects. CBD is used for treating cancer, alleviating pain, and reducing anxiety. However, this may not be achievable if the correct dosage is not used. It, therefore, calls for users to know the correct amount of CBD to take. The dose depends on factors including, but not limited to, the user’s body. This article suggests the correct dosage to take for CBD’s desired effects.

    What is CBD?

According to Schilling et al. (2020), CBD is a compound extracted from cannabis sativa or hemp flowers, and leaves. Cannabis sativa has more than 100 compounds, but CBD remains the most outstanding because of its health benefits. Most people confuse CBD with THC. The latter causes the 'high' effect experienced from taking marijuana. In contrast, CBD does not cause a 'high' effect; instead it has many health benefits. Long-term smoking of marijuana causes a psychoactive effect due to the presence of THC in it. However, CBD can cause a 'high' feeling when combined with THC. This should warn CBD consumers to avoid its misuse.

    Types of CBD

    There are three types of CBD; full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and CBD isolate;

    Full-Spectrum CBD

VanDolah et al. (2019) opined that the full spectrum comprises all compounds of the cannabis sativa plant with 0.3% of THC. As a result, it has more health benefits for the consumer. It treats anxiety and chronic pain and relieves stress and other nervous disorders. However, it should be noted that when taken in large amounts for a long period, it causes psychoactive effects and mental disorders. This is because of THC, which is used during the manufacturing process. Full-spectrum is unsuitable for first-time users due to its earthy smell; the smell may discourage first-time users from CBD.

    Broad-spectrum CBD

It contains all the compounds of the cannabis plant except THC. Like full-spectrum, it treats cancer cells, alleviates pain, and boosts sleep. It may be discouraged by most people because of the smell produced by more cannabidiol compounds. It can be extracted from the cannabis plant through fractional distillation or simple carbon dioxide extraction.

    CBD Isolate

The isolate is the purest form of CBD manufactured by extracting all compounds from the cannabis plant except CBD. It is suitable for first-time CBD consumers since it does not produce an earthy smell. According to Working et al. (2022), CBD isolate has limited health benefits than other types; hence it is inconvenient to those who want a wide range of health benefits. It is used to boost sleep and appetite and reduce anxiety.

How to Know the Level of CBD Dosage

As CBD is gaining popularity, many people embrace it as part of their regular routine. Unfortunately, choosing the correct dosage can be overwhelming, especially if one is the first consumer. Here are what will determine how much CBD one should take:

    Body Chemistry

According to Pellati et al. (2018), chemicals in the cannabis plant use the same receptors common drugs use to dispense their health benefits. As a result, it may respond negatively to medication given through CBD. One should know how the body fights harmful substances and metabolic processes to use CBD correctly.

    Body Weight

Pamplona et al. (2018) found that CBD might contribute to weight loss. It boosts metabolic processes and reduces food intake. Some studies found that when CBD was given to rats, it stimulated the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain tissue. These receptors activate a high metabolism rate that leads to weight loss.

    Condition Being Treated

Knowing the condition to be treated determines the amount of drug one should take. More doses may be needed for many conditions. For proper drug use, one should ask the doctor to give guidelines.

The Concentration of CBD in Each Form

Different forms have different concentrations of CBD. For instance, a CBD capsule may be labeled as 300mg or 100mg per serving. Seek medical advice for correct dosage.

    Benefits of CBD

The following are the benefits one can get from using CBD:

    1. Treat cancerous cells.
    2. Alleviate chronic pain
    3. Reduce anxiety
    4. Boost appetite
    5. Treat migraine
    6. Reduce stress

How to Ensure the Best Pick

For one to choose the best product from the market, the following guidelines will tell safe product for consumption:

    • Certificate of Analysis. This document indicates the expiry date among other vital details.
    • Should have a third-party test results; independent lab test results are objective
    • It should be free from contaminants.
    • It should have passed a heavy metals and pesticides test.

    Risks of Using CBD

One may be exposed to the following dangers as a result of CBD usage:

    1. Diarrhea
    2. According to Liu et al. (2019), CBD leads to dry mouth
    3. Interferes with sleep
    4. Leads to addiction and overdependence.

    Legalization

Many countries have legalized CBD for medical and therapeutic use. However, each country has different regulations for CBD production and sale. For instance, in Australia, CBD must have 98% of cannabis compound, while the rest of the percentage is catered by THC. In the US, only 0.3 % of THC can exist in a product. It is, therefore, important to inquire about CBD regulations to avoid legal consequences.

    Conclusion

For one to enjoy the benefits of CBD, it calls for proper usage. Everyone should consider the correct dosage and quantity. Before you start using CBD, it is important to counter check your body weight to know what amount of drug you should take. Your body chemistry is also important to tell whether CBD will interact with your body. Consult more from your doctor to have information on CBD and a prescription for the correct dosage. Whether buying CBD for the first time or not, one should know its benefit to be compelled to use the product. However, some companies may manufacture harmful products.
