    How To Use CBD Tincture

There are different ways in which one can use CBD tinctures. They can be used as topicals, mixed with food and drinks, and swallowed. This article discusses what CBD tincture is, methods of consuming CBD tinctures, and the benefits of CBD tinctures.

CBD tinctures cannot only be taken orally but there are different ways in which one can use them. The different ways of using CBD tinctures depend on one's preferences. At times, an individual may aim at using the CBD tinctures in a sublingual way. It may be helpful when in need of fast and efficient effects. However, most of the time, the fast and efficient effects felt are not long-lasting. It is one of the reasons why others prefer the other methods of using CBD tinctures. This article discusses the different ways in which one can use CBD tinctures.

    What Is CBD Tincture

CBD tincture is an alcohol-based extract. Alcohol is used when extracting the CBD compound; at times, it is used together in the finished product. This method is mostly preferred because it helps preserve most cannabinoids so that they cannot get damaged and prevent oxidation in the plants. However, it may need some filtration so that it can be refined.

    Methods of Consuming CBD Tincture

    Sublingual

According to Zenone et al. (2021), sublingual consumption is one of the common ways that CBD tinctures are known to be consumed. They are placed under the tongue and then allowed to stay in the mouth for some time before it is absorbed. The mucous membrane absorbs the CBD tincture, and the capillaries and veins in the mucous membranes help get the CBD tincture into the bloodstream. The effects will then start to be felt. However, the effects are not long-lasting as all the active ingredients are absorbed by the mucous membrane and transported to the bloodstream as a whole. Once the CBD tincture has been absorbed into the body, an individual can swallow the rest of the tincture with water or any liquid to get rid of the taste in their mouth. They can as well spit it out after it has been absorbed. However, be sure not to swallow or spit out the CBD tincture immediately after you put it beneath the tongue, as you may swallow the active ingredients before they have been absorbed.

    Topicals

CBD tinctures can be used as topicals. Topicals are applied to the skin. They exist in different forms. Some of these forms include; lotions, creams, and balms. Evans (2020) stated that the best thing about using CBD tinctures as topicals is that the effects felt are long-lasting even though slow. The body has the presence of the endocannabinoid system, and it has receptors present in every part of the body. The cannabinoid receptors interact with the CBD to give out effects. Stith et al. (2019) stated that the downside of using CBD tinctures as topicals is that the only place the tincture is applied will be where its effects will be felt. It means that the effects are locally felt. When used topically, they can come with several benefits. They will help protect the skin from damage and give nourishing and glowing properties. They are also known to have some healing properties, thus meaning that they can treat itchiness, irritation, and rashes. They can also treat skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis.

    Swallowing

Liu (2019) reported that swallowing is another method for using CBD tinctures. It is sometimes seen to be similar to combining CBD tinctures with drinks and food. It is because they will have to undergo the same process for the effects to be felt. When they are swallowed either in drops or resin, they are taken into the digestive system so they can be digested into the body. Once they are digested, they are taken into the bloodstream, and the effects start to be felt immediately.

    Mixing Them with Drinks

CBD tinctures can be used in drinks or foods. It is possible by placing the CBD tinctures in either food. However, be sure not to use heat when cooking with the CBD tinctures. It is because there is the possibility that the active ingredients may get lost in the process. The best thing, in this case, would be to use the CBD tinctures after cooking the food. They can also be sprinkled in already-made food, which will still serve its effects. The CBD tinctures can be used in drinks, and the effects will still be felt. The effects will take longer to be felt but will be long-lasting. The main reason the effects take long is that the CBD tincture mixed into food or drinks must be digested before it is released into the bloodstream. It means that the bloodstream will receive the CBD tinctures in bits until the whole of it is finally digested.

The Side Effects of Using CBD Tinctures

    • Dry mouth
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness or drowsiness
    • Diarrhea

    Benefits of CBD Tinctures

    Relieves Pain

CBD tinctures are known to act as a pain reliever. They are known to treat either acute or chronic pain. Most of the time, the pain felt in the body results from inflammation. Inflammation in the body is caused when harmful substances get into the body and interact with the healthy cells, and as a result, this may bring about some swelling and pain in the body. It means that the anti-inflammatory properties present in the CBD tinctures help relieve pain.

    Has Anti-Anxiety Properties

According to Sartori et al. (2019), CBD tinctures have anti-anxiety properties that minimize anxiety and depression by increasing the brain's response to serotonin. It has some calming effects that relax the body and the mind. The calming effects reduce anxiety and depression and assist in calming the body and controlling sleeping difficulties.

    Cons of Using CBD Tinctures

    Pros of Using CBD Tinctures

    • Dosage is easy
    • It can be combined with food and drinks
    • Effects are fast but depend on the method taken

    Conclusion

Though CBD tinctures are known to be taken sublingually, there are other ways in which an individual can consume them. They can be taken through topicals, mixing them with drinks, and swallowing them with food and drinks. However, most of these ways are not preferred that much as they take longer for the effects to be felt, even if they are long-lasting. The great thing about the CBD tinctures is that the possibility of them giving out the high effect is minimal. It is because it does not have the presence of the THC compound; if present, they are in small amounts.
