    Understanding CBD

    CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a plant-based cannabinoid. Its popularity is growing every day because of the benefits its offers. The good thing about this cannabinoid is that it is well tolerated by most bodies and rarely causes any side effects. CBD exists in various formulations, including but not limited to; oils, tinctures, vape pens, balms, salves, lotions, edibles (gummies and capsules), and face masks. CBD is majorly known for its calming and relaxing effects, unlike its counterpart tetrahydrocannabinol which is famous for its high impact. Individuals utilize CBD in several ways, including;

    • Pain relief
    • Anxiety relief
    • Inflammation relief

    CBD also contains anti-oxidant properties, which are harmful to specific cells. Research is ongoing concerning CBD if it can be effective in treating various diseases;

    • Anxiety disorder
    • Addiction
    • Neurodegenerative diseases
    • Tuberous sclerosis

    Types of CBD

    Full Spectrum

    It contains most cannabinoids available in the hemp plant, including tetrahydro cannabidiol (THC) which is responsible for psychoactive effects. However, its THC levels are less than 0.3 percent making it legal and safe for use.

    Broad Spectrum

    It is a preferred option for individuals who want to feel the effects of other cannabinoids except for THC.

    CBD Isolate

    It is the purest form of CBD since all the other cannabinoids were extracted from it.

    How Do CBD Vape Pens Help with Anxiety

    CBD and the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)

    According to Yarar & Erhan (2021), CBD indirectly affects the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a complex system that provides homeostasis (balance) to the body. This system ensures everything is working how it is supposed to, from moderate appetite to keeping your mood balanced and ensuring that the cognitive process, like memory, is working smoothly. Even without CBD, the ECS works just perfectly since it has the ECS receptors and endocannabinoids to help it run its job smoothly.

     Pertwee &Roger (2015) noted that the body and work produce Endocannabinoids by binding to the ECS receptors in almost all body parts, specifically in the nervous system. There are two types of ECS receptors; CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1 receptor is found in the central nervous system (CNS), while the CB 2 receptor is in the peripheral nervous system (PNS).

    Cannabinoids such as THC and CBD stimulate the ECS to work. Navarro et al. (2018) commented that CBD indirectly interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors to boost the levels of specific endocannabinoids, which in turn help regulate various processes like anxiety response through the central nervous system.

    CBD Vape Pen: Potentially Alleviating Anxiety

    Lu et al. (2019) noted that CBD released two endocannabinoids, 2-AG and anandamide. Unlike THC, it does not have psychoactive effects. Instead, it enhances the therapeutic benefits of the ECS. The anandamide and 2-AG endocannabinoids help decrease anxiety-related symptoms when taken in enough dosage. Vaping CBD at higher levels helps regulate fear, which is associated with anxiety since most anxious people always feel threatened with their well-being. Vaping CBD is best since it contains high levels of CBD e- juice. It has a higher bioavailability meaning it is absorbed into the bloodstream quickly; hence its effects are felt almost immediately.

    Anandamide

    Anandamide is also referred to as the bliss molecule. It promotes the general therapeutic response in the body system. Studies have proven that individuals with a high level of this endocannabinoid are happier. The stories of anandamide help with pain relief. In particular to anxiety, anandamide is linked to more nerve cells through a process known as neurogenesis which helps better memory, learning, and clear thoughts. When alleviating stress, it helps promote neurogenesis hence being more valuable. Better cognition is one of the important ways to prevent mental disorders like anxiety and depression. 2-Ag

    A higher level of 2-AG decrease inflammation, protect neurons and boost the feel-good neurotransmitter levels. They also prove that higher endocannabinoid levels reduce anxiety-related behaviors and PTSD and depression symptoms. Even though these studies did not categorically say that a higher level of 2-AG can alleviate anxiety, it was concluded that low levels of 2-AG were associated with increased pressure. It was summarized that there was a link between 2-AG and anxiety levels though more studies are still required. The same study also showed that 2-AG activity in the brain, specifically the amygdala, significantly improved an individual's mood and decreased anxiety symptoms in the long term.

    Conclusion

    If one experiences anxiety constantly and yearns to try CBD to help them with it, the effectiveness and beauty of CBD are in its versatility. One of the most effective ways of consuming CBD is by vaping it. It is because it contains a higher bioavailability meaning it is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, and its effects are felt within a few minutes. Vaping CBD is an excellent option for individuals who want to combat their anxiety symptoms quickly. If one loves the portability, ease, and effectiveness, one can get all that in CBD vape pens.
