In the past years, there has been a rise in the number of people becoming familiar with the term CBD because there is an increased amount of studies and research about the healthier benefits of CBD. CBD products are available over the counter in different forms, such as capsules, pills, tinctures, CBD oil, concentrates, gummies, vapes, and CBD topicals. The most used CBD product is Oil. How to Use CBD Oil – Three Different Ways

    What Is CBD Oil?

Lall & S (2020) explained that CBD oil is manufactured by extracting CBD compounds from the leaves, stalk, and Flowers of the cannabis plant. It is diluted with organic distillate, such as coconut and jojoba oil. It is often extracted from the hemp plant, one of the species of Cannabis. The hemp plant contains a high concentration of CBD compounds and a low concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).   THC is another famous chemical compound in the cannabis plant that is mostly responsible for the sensation of getting high in its users due to its psychoactive properties. CBD oil is a non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating product; thus does not get high after consumption. There are three types of CBD oil available on the counter, namely:

    • CBD isolate- is pure and contains no other traces of cannabinoids.
    • Broad spectrum CBD- contains most of the compounds of the cannabis plant except the THC.
    • Full-spectrum CBD -contains all cannabinoids in the hemp plant, including traces of THC.

    How to Use CBD Oil

They are plenty of CBD products like gummies, lotions, vape pens, etc.; CBD oil is the most popular application style for consuming CBD. The way to take CBD oil depends on the following factors:

There are three major ways to consume CBD oil which is largely practiced by many.

Cooking and Baking with CBD Oil

Putting CBD oil directly into the mouth isn't for everyone. Most people add CBD oil to their daily lunches, dinners, and breakfast. It is the best way to consume CBD oil without tolerating the oily flavor. You can add CBD oil to your daily beverages and cook or bake with it.

Di Marco et al. (2018) stated that CBD oil could be infused into coffee or tea to form CBD beverages. It is easily digested and broken down by body enzymes, allowing quick absorption into the bloodstream., CBD oil can be added to beers  One of the trending bar drinks are cannabis-infused beer. CBD beer maybe not be famous as THC-infused beer, but it is common for beer drinkers with health problems

you could also infuse CBD oil into food recipes. It doesn't alter the taste or texture of the dish, allowing the user to add its health benefits to whatever they are preparing freely. You can add CBD oil to a complete dish or cook with Oil as one of the ingredients. However, avoid excessive heat since it may alter the composition of CBD Oil degrading its effectiveness.

Baking with CBD oil is common as CBD infused –cakes, chocolate, or cookies cover the unpleasant oily flavors with their deliciousness.

    Drops and Tincture

One of the simplest ways to use CBD oil is in the form of drops and tinctures. It is more of a straightforward approach where you take the Oil sublingually or put a few drops under the tongue. It is important to hold the liquid for a few minutes before swallowing for an effective result. Under your tongue, the active CBD compound enters your bloodstream through the mouth's soft tissues. This method is most effective since the CBD benefits are easily absorbed and observed immediately compared to cooking or baking with CBD oil which will take time before the CBD oil does its magic.

Another advantage of taking CBD orally using droppers is that it ensures a controlled dosage as the user can easily manage the consumption of the product.

    Applying Directly to the Skin

CBD topicals such as cream, lotion, and balms are mostly used in skin application, but you can make your own CBD topical using CBD oil. You only need a few ingredients, and you can customize your CBD topical to best suit your skin.

Ashton & Livvy (2021) suggested that CBD oil is easily absorbed into the skin tissues, which helps to moisturize and cleanse the skin. It can also alleviate joint and muscle pain and act as massage oil since CBD has a calming effect on users and can be used to treat skin diseases such as acne or arthritis.

Most older adults may have a health condition that results in difficulty swallowing. Therefore taking infused CBD foods or drops of CBD can be irritating, and applying it to the skin is best suited for such people.

    Benefits of CBD

Legal & C. (2020) showed that When you ingest or apply CBD oil, it interacts with the body's Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is responsible for maintaining internal body balance. It stimulates the ECS receptors to affect many bodily functions to enhance wellness. CBD oil consumers may report the following benefits:

    • Reduction in stress and anxiety
    • Reduced muscle or joint pains
    • Improved sleep
    • Reduction of cancer symptoms
    • Good skin complexion
    • Controlled and reduced symptoms of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases
    • Improved mental and heart conditions
    • Strong muscles and bones

    Conclusion

New people to the world of CBD products find a ranger of ways to consume CBD oil, but the best thing they can do is to try out different options to find the one that suits their needs. Most masses prefer infusing CBD oil into foods and drinks since it is more convenient and eliminates the oily flavor of most CBD products. However, it is hard to control the dosage of CBD oil you are consuming using this technique  Use of droppers and tinctures is more efficient in controlling the dosage you are taking.
