How Can CBD Oil Help Soothe Burn Scars?

CBD has been on the rise and has been the talk in different markets because of the benefits they have been known to have. They interact with the endocannabinoid system so that their effects can be felt on the skin that has been burned. It also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that soothe the burn scar.

Accidents are bound to happen, and this also includes being burnt. It may likely be associated with pain, inflammation, and soreness if someone gets burnt. The hype surrounding CBD and its properties and benefits has resulted in individuals seeking it to help in soothing the burned skin and making the scar heal faster. They do so by soothing the scars and connecting with the cannabinoid receptors so that its effects can be felt effectively. This article talks about the various ways in which CBD oil assists in soothing scars brought about by burns.

How Can CBD Oil Help Soothe Burn Scars?

    CBD and CBD Oil

The cannabis plant has two active ingredients, THC and CBD. The latter is known to have all the compounds present in the cannabis plant except the THC compound. It is a psychotropic compound and hence cannot cause a high effect in individuals, unlike its counterpart THC.

CBD oil is made by placing the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant and mixing them up with the carrier oil like the seed and coconut oil. They are known to have many benefits to an individual's life, especially by soothing the scars caused by burns.

    Types of CBD

    CBD exists in three different types. They include;

    Full-spectrum CBD

Full-spectrum CBD is one of the active compounds found in the CBD. This is because it has all the compounds in the cannabis plant. This also includes the THC compound. Full-spectrum CBD is at times referred to as whole-plant cannabis. The presence of the psychoactive compound THC is not that great to cause a high effect on an individual. However, it can have a high effect when taken in high amounts.

    Broad-spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD is sometimes seen to be the same as full-spectrum CBD. This is because the broad spectrum has almost all the compounds found in the cannabis plant. The only compound that is missing is the psychoactive component, THC. However, there are instances where small traces of THC may be found in them. The traces are not enough to bring about high effects.

    Isolate-based CBD

Isolate-based CBD is the purest form of all three types of CBD. It is passed through several processes so that the other compounds of the cannabis plant are removed. It does not have the presence of the THC factor. It is known to be the most inactive form of CBD as it lacks all the other compounds of the cannabis plant that would have made it active.

    Understanding CBD Oil

As stated above, CBD oil is made by mixing a carrier oil with the flowers or leaves of the cannabis plant. There are different ways in which CBD oil can be used.

    Topicals

They are applied to the skin. They include gels, creams, oils like lotions, and balms.

    Vaping

They are smoked and made to pass through the lungs and straight into the bloodstream

    Tinctures

They are taken through sublingual means. This means that they are placed beneath the tongue, and the mucous membranes get to absorb them and the important ingredients taken into the bloodstream.

    Edibles

They are taken through oral means. Edibles are chewed and taken through the digestive system and made to be absorbed by the body by passing them through the bloodstream to feel their effects.

The Endocannabinoid System and the CBD Oil for Soothing Burn Scars

Burns and cuts can bring about scars. Scars are known to be the thick or dark skin formed when a wound is about to heal. Studies show that the body has the presence of the endocannabinoid system that is centrally placed. The endocannabinoid system has the presence of cannabinoid receptors. This system is responsible for the regulation of the different functions of the body. Some regulations take care of our sleep, pain, and stress. The endocannabinoid system is known to assist in the recovery of wounds as well as the scar. However, more studies need to be done so that its efficiency can be discussed and may even be used by medical practitioners in treating wounds once FDA regulates it.

Antibacterial Properties In Using CBD Oil?

When one is burnt, the wounds are likely to be in a position to get bacterial infections. This is because burnt wounds are always open, and bacteria can get into them easily. This may mean that the wound may take some time before healing. Datta et al. (2021) suggested that when CBD oil is applied to the wound, it may block the occurrence of bacterial infections. This means that bacteria will not be able to contact the scar or the wound. However, a lot of studies need to be taken so that they can back up the claim. Anti-inflammatory Properties of CBD

CBD oil has anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to fight inflammation that the burning scar may be brought about by the swelling and soreness of the wound. Isler (2016) stated that when CBD is applied to the scars, the CB1 receptors bind themselves to the inflamed areas anytime a wound occurs to fight the inflammation. This assists in healing the wound and make the scar not affected and heal faster.

Does CBD Oil Assist in the Fast Recovery of Wounds Or Burnt Scars?

When the body is cut, inflamed, or burnt, the CB1 receptors bind to the cannabinoid receptors. Cox-Georgian et al. (2019) stated that when CBD oil is applied to the skin, it assists the receptors in performing their functions properly. This means that CBD oil assists in making the scars clear off, and the scars and the wounds can recover at a fast rate. Learn more about what to look for in cbd oil?

Analgesic and Antiseptic Properties of CBD Oil

CBD oil has analgesic and antiseptic properties. These properties prevent the skin from feeling the pain from the scars. According to Kamoun et al. (2017), the antiseptic properties of the CBD oil applied to the skin play a role in soothing the scars and making them heal faster. This, therefore, means that the antiseptic and the analgesic properties are interrelated with the pain-relieving properties.

    Conclusion

As seen in the article above, CBD oil has been seen to have the properties of soothing burn scars in an individual. This is seen through the properties and the benefits that they have. They assist in fighting inflammation, healing the scars, and showing antibacterial properties, especially in the affected areas that have been burnt. Even though some studies support the use of CBD oil in soothing scars, many studies still need to be done to back up the other claims of the present studies. Make sure to consult a health practitioner before deciding on using CBD oil to soothe burn scars, especially those with sensitive skin.
